Meals at this cafe are the real deal .The breads are all homemade as is the soup and the other meals. The price is right and the flavour amazing. It is run by the church ladies and men, all volunteers too. Service is great and you feel very welcome. A great spot for a quick meal at lunchtime.
Perhaps it was the organisation of the Book Sale that made the cafe seem like a school dining hall with the noise, or the grumpy greeting by a lady in red as we entered the church, but unfortunately I am a great one for first impressions. The sandwiches were fresh and moist and the soup very tasty, but that was my first and last visit.
The Croft Café operates daily during the week offering good value lunches and coffee/cakes and I have used this Café before for this. However, on this occasion, we had a Service in the Church for The Boys' Brigade, with food for the Boys afterwards in the café below. Peter, the chef, had prepared a simple but good menu of Burgers or Hot Dogs, which were well prepared and ready ...
When you compare the prices in this cafe with nearby similar establishments then this cafe wins hands down. The variety is not too wide but many customers come back regularly to have quality for money. The soup, which is different every day, is usually all gone by closing time.
