Fiaschetteria means (in Tuscany) a place where you go to drink, a pub; Montalcino is the area producing the best red wines in Italy (Brunello...). This is a recipe for success. In the lovely area of the Naviglio Grande (the canal built by Leonardo in the 1400s for the growing city of Milan), this restaurant stands out. The food (Tuscan) is great, the choice of wine spectacular ...
While almost any place in Milan is good, Il Montalcino clearly stands out with food, wine decor and service. A bottle of 2011 Brunello Il Montalcino Riserva, steak tartar to die for and an exemplary steak fiorentino. Deserts were amazing too. Service was impeccable along with down to earth and homey feel of the place. Decor is nice, not to say refined.
