We visited Ikkan by chance for dinner after a long day of sight seeing. This is by far some of the best sushi I have ever had. The service was just as good; the staff were friendly and happily accommodated our dietary needs. If you are looking for excellent Japanese sushi at an affordable price I cannot recommend this shop enough!! It is a must visit in Kyoto.
We just stumbled upon this fantastic family run sushi place around the corner from the machiya we rented via VRBO. They were so welcoming and the food was fantastic! The quality of fish was top notch and prepared with great care. I will make a point of visiting every time I am in Kyoto.
The staff at the ryokan we were staying at said this was their favorite sushi place in Kyoto- even called to make reservations for us. Small place with no flashy advertising outside (in Kyoto, big signs are a bad sign ...). Super clean and tidy. Dad, mom, and son run it.
