We came to this place as everywhere in paris was closing (Saturday 1900....). It was quiet so we got served straight away. The waitress was friendly. Starters were ok (French onion soup and terrine) you can easily get better onion soup in paris. The terrine had some good flavours. The mains were poor. Steak over done and taste burnt and no flavour the veal came with spaghetti.....
We went here based on reviews from several writers. What a mistake. Mussels were bland, no garlic or taste. Steak was tasty but potatoes were clearly frozen. And the bread was clearly commercially prepared and not worth eating. Service - no bonsoir or smile, just "what would you like". The local youths were drinking beer and having a grand time and I think the place was perfect...
A great spot to have breakfast in the Ecole Militaire neighborhood. The serve the typical French breakfast -- Petit Dejeuner -- and an Americanized one (adds a fried egg and a small slice of ham). The food is good. The service is polite and attentive.
My wife and I jokingly once ate French onion soup EVERYWHERE we went one trip to Paris. We concluded that the best was here in May of 2015. I just returned from an aborted dream holiday there and thought for my last night I'd head over to rue Cler for a bowl. When it came it was dark brown....way darker than the previous year.
