Nice use of space with exposed brick and concrete, industrial cabinets and lighting at the back of the lobby creates an open plan, but cozy breakfast or dinner spot.
For your $30 breakfast it was continental with 5 hot options (cold scambled eggs, cold bacon, baked beans, tomato and chicken sausages). The make your own latte machine filled my mug up three quarters although the coffee beans were excellent. It would have been better to go to the lane just to the left of the hotel (as you exit) as there was lots of breakie places that all look...
This place was ok. Lacking a bit in atmosphere and probably overpriced but that comes with eating in hotels. You are better off exploring the adjacent laneways and streets.
After spending so much time touring when we returned to Melbourne before starting our trip back to the States we opted for dinner at Platform 270. My husband & I both had the featured chicken dish - the meal was excellent, served hot, very tasty. There was an evening special with a glass of wine included - dinner for $20 AUS. Quite reasonable.
Stopped in at double tree by Hilton for one night. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Melbourne, directly opposite flinders station. The rooms were spacious and clean, make sure you ask for a city view or flinders view, otherwise your view will be a wall or window from the adjacent buildings.
