I see people calling this "bar food". The food is excellent and very consistent. Usually I am there in the early evening. Maybe some of these "bar food" people are there much later at night ordering food at the bar.. This is a bar that does an excellent business at the bar. Went for a friend's birthday. Ordered a home-made chicken pot pie. the crust was really fluffy and high. It was filled with a heavenly concoction of vegetables, chicken and gravy. Other friends ordered other types of foods and were all equally satisfied.

I have eaten here a few times, definitely a good place to visit.Their food is always great and their drinks are always good too.

We moved away from the area about 5 years ago and we come back into Brooklyn, we always try to stop into "The Monk" . The food is always so great and the service is friendly, from the nice girls who greet you at the door to the bartenders & waitstaff. Great bands, amazing drinks and always a fun time, we will definitely be back!
