Food is pricy but we expected as much given the area. Fortunately the quality matched the price. It's the first time I understand why everyone says Italian food is so great. Plus they didn't cringe too much about the fact we had a toddler and a 8 month old with us.
We ate here from about 7:30 in the evening and we were not disappointed with the cuisine or the service. The waiter was friendly and tolerant of our lack of Italian. Tucked away in a quiet corner not far from The Duomo Al Mercante provides simple but authentic Italian food with a wide selection of fine wines.
On our first night in Milan we went to this restaurant for dinner based on the recommendation from our hotel. The location is great, very near to the Duomo but in a quiet piazza. Both service and food were below average. The biggest disappointment was Risotto Milanese with veal. Both risotto and meat were worst we tried in Italy.
